GLEBE, NSW REAL ESTATE BUYERS AGENTS

    Location and Transport Links

Glebe is located a mere 2.5 kilometres south-west of the CBD in Sydney’s Inner West. It is a waterfront suburb situated to the west of the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), north of the University of Sydney and east of Annandale. Jubilee Park and Glebe light rail stations provide convenient public transport to Dulwich Hill and Central Station and is currently being extended to Circular Quay via George Street and to Kingsford via Surry Hills. Glebe is also serviced by buses with routes along Parramatta Road, Glebe Point Road and Bridge Street

    Property types

Early 20th century homes including many terraces are common in Glebe, many of which have been beautifully restored and renovated. A number of the 19th century manor homes which are now heritage listed also remain. Due to Glebe’s proximity to multiple universities, apartments are in high demand and there are a number of large modern security complexes in the suburb.

    Shops and Restaurants

Glebe Point Road runs north-south through the middle of Glebe and offers a vast selection of restaurants, pubs, cafés and specialty stores. If you still can’t find what you’re looking for, Broadway Shopping Centre in the south-east corner of Glebe offers many more stores including homewares, clothing stores, department stores, a food court, Hoyts cinema and Aldi and Coles supermarkets. Lord Wolseley Hotel is very popular and is just around the corner in Ultimo. Sydney Fish Markets are also nearby in neighbouring Pyrmont if you want to get your fish direct from the wholesalers or just enjoy a sunny afternoon eating fish and chips overlooking the harbour. In coming years, Glebe stands to greatly benefit from the transformation of the Bays Precinct into a vibrant shopping and dining hub.

    Schools and Educational Facilities

Glebe Public School is the local public primary school and hosts the popular Glebe Markets every Saturday whilst St James Primary School offers an independent option. St Scholastica’s College offers boarding for secondary girls and the Australian Performing Arts Grammar School (APGS) focuses on nurturing creative skills for secondary students. Sydney Secondary College Blackwattle Bay Campus provides HSC education for students primarily from their Balmain and Leichhardt campuses. Nearby well-regarded schools include Macquarie Grammar School and St Andrew’s Cathedral School in the CBD, The Athena School in Newtown and International Grammar School in Ultimo.

    Recreation and other Amenities

Glebe Foreshore has several parks including Bicentennial Park, Juliee Park and Federal Park with a walking path stretching between them. The Parks are easily accessible via light rail, have views of Anzac Bridge and have a range of facilities such as playgrounds, barbeques, sporting grounds and a skateboard ramp. Blackwattle Bay Park is around the corner and has a popular waterfront café and restaurant ‘The Boathouse’. Dogs are permitted to be off their leash in Federal Park and nearby sporting fields (when not in use) as well as the eastern section of Glebe Foreshore Walk (near The Boathouse). Darling Harbour is also within walking distance and offers a host of attractions including Imax cinema and Madame Tussauds wax museum.

    Why people live in Glebe?

Walking distance to the CBD and multiple universities, beautifully restored terrace homes and a cosmopolitan inner-city lifestyle.
