    Kensington is located 5km south east of Sydney’s CBD, it is part of the local government area of Randwick in the Eastern Suburbs region of Sydney. It is adjacent to Randwick Racecourse and Centennial Park.

The apartments are located towards the northern end of the suburb with the remaining forms of housing been small free standing houses of a Californian Bungalow architectural style. The Raleigh Park development located in the northern part of Kensington is an example of a modern (1980s) residential complex with a mixture of high rise residential and townhouses.

    Shops and Restaurants

    Kensington has plenty of interesting restaurants that reflect the diverse culture of the suburb. It has some of Sydney’s finest Indonesian, Chinese and Malaysian restaurants as well as the kitsch Grotta Capri Seafood Restaurant. The main strip of Kensington is along Anzac Parade, Peters of Kensington is a key attractor and there are also a number retail outlet stores to complement the numerous café’ and restaurants.

    Schools and Educational Facilities

    Kensington Public School is the local state school. Our Lady of the Sacred Heart College and Our Lady of the Rosary Primary and Sydney Boys’ and Girls’ High Schools are also in the area. The University of NSW and Sydney Institute of Technology (TAFE) are also close by in Randwick. There is also the famous National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA).

    Recreation and other Amenities

    Kensington has several beautiful parks largest of which being Kensington Park. These open spaces make experiencing the outdoors very rewarding. A third of the suburb is occupied by The Australian Golf Club, which gives the suburb a green and leafy feel. For people who like more than golf, there are several gyms located along Anzac Parade. The neighbouring suburb of Moore Park offers additional facilities such as an athletics field, sports centre and additional golf course.
