POTTS POINT, NSW REAL ESTATE BUYERS AGENTS

    Where is Potts Point located?

Potts Point is located approximately 2 kilometres east of the CBD in Sydney’s eastern suburbs in the local government area of Sydney. Kings Cross train station offers quick access to the city and the beaches via Bondi Junction.

    What housing types are predominant?

Freestanding houses are rare in Potts Point (there are only 12) but there are a quite a few Victorian terraces. The number of 19th century State Heritage listed properties and the fact that the area has the highest concentration of Art Deco apartments in Australia is testament to the suburb’s age. 19th century properties that face the Harbour rather than the city are rare in Sydney, but Potts Point contains several including Elizabeth Bay House, Tusculum, Rockwall, Jenner, Bomera and Tarana.

There are also a few modern apartment developments, which usually come with the benefit of off-street parking unlike most of the older apartments.

What attracts home buyers & investors to Potts Point?

Fantastic walkability, constant demand for rental properties, beautiful architecture, tree lined streets, easy access to the city via the Botanic Gardens or Kings Cross station and stunning harbour views from many apartments.

    Restaurants, shops & entertainment

Potts Point contains a disproportionately large number and range of restaurants and cafés in relation to its small size. Many are tucked away in back alleys and extremely popular but not necessarily overly expensive. There are also many other restaurants and bars at Woolloomooloo Bay, Elizabeth Bay and Darlinghurst within easy walking distance.

Harris Farm is centrally located and popular with the locals for the majority of their weekly shopping needs or alternatively Coles and Woolworths are just around the corner. If you still don’t find what you’re looking for, the city is only one train stop away. The Artspace Visual Arts Centre and several nearby art galleries including the Art Gallery of New South Wales are worth a visit on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

    Sports & fitness

Potts Point sits between Rushcutters Bay Park and the beautiful Royal Botanic Gardens. Hyde Park, City Gym and Cook and Phillip Park Aquatic and Fitness Centre are also within walking distance. Closer to home is Anytime Fitness Potts Point, PE Dept fitness studio and Snap Fitness in Elizabeth Bay. Sailing fans are well catered for by the Elizabeth Bay Marina.

    Schools & education

Potts Point contains St Vincent’s College for girls and Darlinghurst Public School. Nearby Independent schools include Reddam House in Woollahra, Ascham School in Edgecliff, SCEGGS, Sydney Grammar School and East Sydney High School in Darlinghurst, Cranbrook and Scots in Bellevue Hill and finally Australian Pacific College, St Andrew’s Cathedral School and Macquarie Grammar School in the CBD. Sydney Girls and Sydney Boys High Schools in Surry Hills are both reputable government schools and several public primary schools are also nearby.

What can my money buy in Potts Point?

The median house price fluctuates substantially from year to year due there being only 252 houses in the suburb, however it is currently listed at $4.182m, 27.8% higher than a year ago.

The median unit price of $670,000 is also not entirely representative due to the large number of studio and one-bedroom apartments in the suburb. As a result, this price will only buy you a centrally located one-bedroom apartment in average condition with no parking.
