Randwick is located approximately 6 kilometres south-east of the CBD in Sydney’s eastern suburbs in the local government area of Randwick. Transport to the city is provided by regular busses via Alison Road or Anzac Parade.

Property types

Many of the early 20th century detached and semi-detached houses are still standing in Randwick as well as the founder’s original home on Blenheim Street that was constructed in 1848. There is also a mix of pre and post-World War II apartments as well as modern townhouses. The majority of apartments can be found along the main thoroughfares of Anzac Parade and Alison Road.

Shops and Restaurants

‘The Spot’ at the intersection of Perouse Road and St Pauls Street is the hub of the suburb and many cafés and restaurants can be found in the area. Belmore Road offers two shopping centres containing Coles and Woolworths supermarkets while many restaurants, speciality shops and Asian grocers can be found in the triangle bounded by Belmore Road, Alison Road and Avoca Street.

Schools and Educational Facilities

Randwick is at the heart of the Eastern Suburbs and offers easy access to a multitude of schools including some of Sydney’s most highly regarded private institutions. Within Randwick itself are the following primary schools; Randwick Public School, Claremont College, Coogee Boys Preparatory School, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Primary School, Rainbow Street Public School and St Margaret Marys School. Secondary or combined primary/secondary schools in Randwick include Brigidine College, Centennial Park School, Emanuel School, Marcellin College, Randwick Boys High School and Randwick Girls High School. Randwick also borders the University of New South Wales in Kingsford.

Recreation and other Amenities

Many homes in Randwick are walking distance to the beach or Centennial Park, both of which can potentially provide a day’s entertainment and relaxation for free. Horse riding is also on offer at Centennial Park for a fee. Royal Randwick Racecourse takes up the majority of Randwick’s north-western corner and hosts horse races throughout the year. Randwick Ritz cinema can be found at The Spot. There are also several gyms on or near Belmore Road whilst there are several golf courses including Moore Park Golf Course in the surrounding area.
