Seaforth is located on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, 9 kilometres north east of the CBD in the Manly LGA. The E41 express bus travels from Seaforth to Manly Wharf in the morning peak hour and connects with ferry services departing for circular quay (and vice versa in the afternoon).
Detached houses make up the vast majority of properties in Seaforth, but there is a wide variety of styles between them. There are some stunning examples of Victorian, Federation and Art Deco architecture as well as some modern tri-level luxury mansions with breathtaking harbour views.
Shops and Restaurants
The shopping strip on Sydney Road offers all the essentials and is a popular dining destination with its wide selection of cafés and restaurants, but head to Balgowlah, Balgowlah Heights or Manly Vale for a full supermarket. Warringah Mall in nearby Brookvale will offer more than 340 stores and additional parking spaces once its expansion is completed in late 2016..
Schools and Educational Facilities
Seaforth Public School is the local primary school while Palm Avenue School caters to primary and secondary children with learning difficulties. Northern Beaches Secondary College has boys and girls campuses in Balgowlah and Manly Vale respectively.
Recreation and other Amenities
Manly Dam Reserve (also known as the Manly Warringah War Memorial Park) covers 376 hectares and offers a variety of recreational activities including bushwalking, mountain biking, water skiing, fishing, kayaking, swimming and 45 picnic tables which have scenic views and most have wood fired barbeques. Sangrado Park is right on the waterfront and offers great views as well as a sheltered swimming area. Seaforth Oval is a permitted off-leash dog walking area.
Many sporting options are catered for, with Seaforth Bowling Club, Wakehurst Tennis Club and Balgowlah, Manly, Warringah and Wakehurst Golf Clubs all nearby. Bantry Bay Reserve is the home of ‘Raiders’ local rugby club. The Andrew ‘Boy’ Charlton Swim Centre is currently undergoing a renovation and will shortly feature an indoor 25m pool, children’s pool, spa pool, sauna, steam room, fitness centre and crèche in addition to the existing 25m and 50m outdoor pools. If you’d prefer to relax on a beach, it’s only a 10 minute bus ride to Manly or a very scenic and popular walkway that extends all the way from the Spit Bridge to Manly and takes 3-4 hours.
