Trevor and Alison were looking to buy a nice quality four bedroom home after renting for a considerable time in the St Ives area. They had very particular standards about the property they were looking for, and while I knew it would be a tricky brief, I was very happy to take on the challenge. With an initial budget of $2 million I explained the quality of home that they could afford to buy, and they were then able to increase their budget to $2.25m. Casting a wider net to include not only St Ives but the Forest area, I showed them a wide range of on and off market properties. In early 2001 I was competing with up to 25 other bidders at auction which meant that the reserve price was completely blown out of the water and the sale prices were going well above the guide. While we missed out on a few properties at auction, I continued to be very persistent and tenacious in the search. Eventually we found a nicely renovated five bedroom house in St Ives and I succeeded in negotiating acceptance of a pre-auction offer. After exchange they were on cloud nine and celebrating they had finally secured still their own home!
