Bondi Beach is located approximately 6.5 kilometres south-east of the CBD in Sydney’s eastern suburbs in the local government area of Waverley. Transport to the city is provided by regular busses via Bondi Junction. While the buses will reach the city, many people prefer to avoid Sydney’s traffic and change to the efficient train network at Bondi Junction to speed up the journey.

Houses mainly consist of Victorian terraces, Federation homes, weatherboard cottages and Californian bungalows. Apartment blocks vary in age from low rise art deco buildings to medium rise post-World War II and modern high rise complexes.

Other nearby primary schools include Bondi Public School, Montessori East Pre-School and Primary School, Bellevue Hill Public School, Kincoppal, Bronte Public School, Clovelly Public School, St Charles Primary School and Waverley Public School. Combined primary/secondary schools in the area include Cranbrook School, Scots College, Waverley College, St Catherine’s School and Kesser Torah College whilst dedicated secondary schools in the vicinity include Reddam House, Rose Bay Secondary College, St Clare’s College and Yeshiva College.

 

Recreation and other amenities in Bondi Beach

The suburb is of course named after the world famous Bondi Beach. If Bondi Beach is too busy for your liking though, the less touristy Tamarama and Bronte Beaches are close at hand. If you enjoy the ocean but the waves put you off, visit Bondi or Bronte baths. Bondi Park offers a skate park as well as an alternative spot to the beach to soak up the sun.

The Bondi to Bronte walk is popular among locals and tourists alike. Bondi Golf Course and Diggers Club is in North Bondi and there are several gyms around Bondi Junction. Hunter and Marks Parks are just south of Bondi and offer another place to relax and take in the ocean views.
