Lilyfield is positioned in Sydney’s Inner West, just 5 kilometres west of the Sydney CBD. Locals have the choice of travelling to the CBD via several bus routes or light rail. The light rail line currently extends from Dulwich Hill to Central Station and is currently being extended to Circular Quay via George Street.
Terrace houses, weatherboard cottages and Victorian freestanding brick houses are popular in Lilyfield. Orange Grove Public School is the local primary school. Secondary schools in the area include Sydney Secondary College in Leichhardt, Rosebank College (Catholic) in Five Dock, Christian Brothers School in Lewisham and St Scholastica’s College in Glebe. Sydney College of the Arts is also in Lilyfield, while Sydney Community College is in neighbouring Rozelle.
Recreation and other Amenities
Leichhardt Park is an expansive park situated along the ever popular ‘Bay Run’ overlooking Iron Cove. The park contains an aquatic centre and health club, sportsgrounds, cafe and Leichhardt Oval with stadium style seating, which is home to Wests Tigers NRL games, Sydney FC, Balmain Tigers Junior Representative teams and Sydney Stars NRC team. The park is also home to Leichhardt Rowing Club and Wests Boomers Baseball Club. The parks around the Sydney College of Arts such as King George Park are also positioned on the waterfront, have barbeque and toilet facilities and are designated off-leash dog areas when sports games are not taking place.
