Greater Western Sydney comprises a very large area which is rapidly growing and is composed of 12 councils which are all members of the Western Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils WSROC. The region covers 5,800 square kilometres and had an estimated resident population of over 1.7 million.
Transport
The Great Western Highway/Parramatta Road and the Parramatta Road and the Great Western Highway are connected by the M4 Western Motorway, which runs from North Strathfield in the east to Glenbrook in the west. It continues as the Great Western Highway as the A32, past the southern edge of Parramatta's central business district, and due west through western metropolitan Sydney to Penrith, which is north of the district, and spanning the Nepean River via the 1867 Victoria Bridge.
At the center of Sydney's west is Parramatta. With Australia's oldest public buildings, the lively commerce, shopping, and entertainment district provides insights into early colonial life. Popular eateries and outdoor dining spots may be found on Church Street.
Taking the Rivercat from Circular Quay, close to the Sydney Opera House, is a beautiful way to go to Parramatta. Once you enter the Parramatta River, you will pass below the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Less than 90 minutes pass throughout the river cruise. It takes under an hour by train.
Some of the convict sites in Australia that are included as World Heritage sites are Old Government House and Domain in Parramatta. In 1799, the main portion of the house was finished. Food was grown by colonists and convicts in the Domain, now Parramatta Park.
Sydney Olympic Park, the location of the 2000 Sydney Olympics, is one of the additional attractions in Sydney's west. The ANZ Stadium hosts important athletic events, and the Allphones Arena hosts concerts. There are lodging options close to the stadium. Train or Rivercat travel to Sydney Olympic Park are options.
At Penrith Whitewater Stadium, another Olympic venue, you can enjoy rafting and kayaking close to the foothills of the Blue Mountains, which are recognized as a World Heritage Site. Want to fly? Then, try indoor skydiving at iFLY Downunder or rocket into the air with Jetpack Experiences, both of which are located in Penrith.
Because to its wide selection of modern Middle Eastern, Southeast Asian, and Taiwanese cuisine, Parramatta has become one of Sydney's greatest dining areas. For Middle Eastern and Turkish cuisine, visit Auburn; for Italian, visit Baulkham Hills; for Vietnamese, visit Cabramatta; and for Indian, visit Harris Park. Other suburbs and cuisines are also explored through Taste Cultural Food Tours.
African cuisines are underrepresented in Australia's diverse eating scene, which is a very excellent reason to visit Blacktown, where Gursha Ethiopian Restaurant and Café serves a wide variety of incredibly wonderful stews made with Ethiopian meat and vegetables, as well as a typical pot of coffee.
Parramatta is a fantastic after-dark destination because to its cocktail lounges, beer gardens, speakeasies, and rooftop bars. Check out the secret Uncle Kurt's, Nick and Nora's, with its 1920s motif.
Western Sydney is often referred to as the heartland of Sydney as it covers a massive area west of the city. From the beautiful picturesque Blue Mountains in the far West with pristine bushland to the Penrith Lakes and the Hawkesbury River heading north to the bustling hub of
The cultural diversity is one of the key attractions of the Western suburbs along with more affordable property prices to house a rapidly growing population. Badgerys Creek has also been named as the site for Sydney’s second airport which will bring a big infrastructure boost to the surrounding areas.
