Location and Transport Links

Clontarf is located on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, 9 kilometres north east of the CBD in the Manly LGA. The E32 express bus travels from Balgowlah Heights to Manly Wharf in the morning peak hour and connects with ferry services departing for circular quay (and vice versa in the afternoon).

    Property types

Almost all properties in Clontarf consist of detached houses. Most development occurred post World War II and many of the older homes have now been replaced with multi-level luxury houses with large terraces that capture breathtaking harbour views.

    Shops and Restaurants

Clontarf only has one local restaurant (Clonnys at Clontarf – The Kiosk) however this seclusion is part of the allure of Clontarf. Locals must therefore visit neighbouring suburbs for their shopping needs. The local shopping village in Balgowlah Heights has a butcher, bakery, deli, fruit shop and florist, pharmacy, hairdresser and IGA supermarket plus liquor store. Further away, Stockland Balgowlah has over 60 stores including Coles supermarket and Fitness First gym; Seaforth has a number of popular cafés and restaurants and Warringah Mall is currently being expanded to offer more than 340 stores in total and additional parking by late 2016.

    Schools and Educational Facilities

Clontarf itself doesn’t have a local school, however Balgowlah Heights Public School is nearby. Northern Beaches Secondary College has boys and girls campuses in Balgowlah and Manly Vale respectively.

    Recreation and other Amenities

Boats, kayaks, surf skis and stand up paddle boards (SUPs) are available for hire in Middle Harbour. Clontarf Reserve is a popular place to relax on the grass or the beach depending on your preference and you can either enjoy a barbeque or sample something from Clonnys’ reasonably priced menu. If you would like bring your dog with you, Tania Park in Balgowlah Heights is a permitted off-leash dog park.

Golfing fans are spoilt for choice with Balgowlah, Manly, Warringah and Wakehurst Golf Clubs all within short driving distance. LM Graham Reserve is next to Manly Golf Club and features a full size outdoor basketball court and cricket nets and is also a popular meeting place for dog walkers. The Andrew ‘Boy’ Charlton Swim Centre is currently undergoing an expansion and will shortly feature an indoor 25m pool, children’s pool, spa pool, sauna, steam room, fitness centre and crèche in addition to the existing 25m and 50m outdoor pools.
