    Maroubra is located approximately 9 kilometres south-east of the CBD in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs in the local government area of Randwick. Maroubra is serviced by buses running up Anzac Parade (with dedicated peak hour bus lanes or clearways for the majority of the trip) into the CBD. In addition, the South East Light Rail network is proposed to extend to neighbouring Kingsford.

    Property types

    There are a mix of property types in Maroubra. Previously Californian bungalows were prolific, however many have now been replaced with contemporary luxury houses, often purpose built to take advantage of the captivating water views. There are also many Federation, Art Deco and 50’s and 60’s brick homes. The number of large apartment complexes is also steadily increasing, many of which provide panoramic ocean views.

    Shops and Restaurants

    Most restaurants and cafes are clustered around the beachfront (including McKeon Street) or Anzac Parade (including Maroubra Junction) and mostly offer quality fare in a relaxed atmosphere suited to the suburb’s beachfront location. Further restaurants including a number of popular Asian options can be found in neighbouring Kingsford.

    Schools and Educational Facilities

    There are a number of Primary School options in Maroubra whilst Secondary school options include Marist College (boys only), South Sydney High School and St Spyridon College (Independent Greek Orthodox). The University of New South Wales in nearby Kensington is also close at hand.

    Recreation and other Amenities

    Maroubra is a well-known surfing destination in Sydney and has three main surf breaks. Maroubra Beach stretches for approximately 1km and is a favourite location for beginners and more experienced surfers alike, yet is less crowded than popular tourist destinations like Bondi Beach. Maroubra also offers multiple parks, reserves, gyms and tennis courts. Hoyts cinema is located at nearby Westfield Eastgardens.
