BALMAIN / BALMAIN EAST, NSW REAL ESTATE BUYERS AGENTS

    Location and Transport Links

Just 4 kilometres west of the Sydney CBD, Balmain is located on the inner banks of Sydney harbour with sensational views over the city. Balmain offers easy access to the CBD via bus or car over Anzac bridge as well as the Inner West and Lower North Shore regions.

    Property types

Balmain is a suburb with a rich Victorian history. The majority of architecture is terrace houses, timber and sandstone cottages. There are also several old warehouses which have been converted into trendy apartment developments. Its origins as a blue collar area in the late 19th century explains the small nature of housing in the area, there are numerous single bedroom semi’s and cottages originally built to house the workforce which are now highly desirable by home renovators looking for something with old world character, to which they can add modern day convenience. Aside from the heritage side there are also modern developments on offer such as ‘Balmain Shores’ which offer modern luxury waterfront living.

    Shops and Restaurants

Along Darling Street, Balmain offers hundreds of cafés, restaurants, novelty stores and regular necessities to make life easy including grocery stores, banks, a post office etc. Local residents’ needs are all well catered for whether they need some ingredients to make dinner or want to treat themselves and eat out; the variety of choices on offer is superb.

    Schools and Educational Facilities

Balmain public school and Father John Therry Catholic School are the only primary schools located specifically in Balmain. For older students there is the Sydney Secondary College located just over the border in the neighbouring suburb of Rozelle. The Sydney College of Arts is also located in the neighbouring suburb of Lilyfield and is the Visual Arts faculty of the University of Sydney.

    Recreation and other Amenities

Balmain has many beautiful parks including Elkington Park and Ewenton Park just to name a few. These open spaces make experiencing the outdoors very rewarding. Ewenton Park is also set on the waterfront and offers fantastic views of the CBD. For people who like more than just a nice view, there is the Balmain Bowles Club and the Dawn Fraser Pool to make a splash. There are countless waterfront walks and places to wander. For the team players there is also the Balmain Rowing Club.

    Why people live in Balmain?

Easy access to the CBD and surrounding areas, lifestyle on offer, modern warehouse conversions and elegant Victorian cottages.
