Numerous bus companies operate routes through Peakhurst connecting the suburb to the Riverwood, Mortdale, Hurstville train stations and major shopping centres, such as Roselands and Hurstville Westville.
Flanked by the upper reaches of the Georges River, Peakhurst is an aging suburb with many retirees and properties ripe for renovation. Lots of greeneries and birds. Home buyers and renters alike are people who work in the city and do not want the chaos. It is a quiet area with lots of potential.
Peakhurst's local business centres are mostly along Forest Road and Boundary Road. Various retail shops, restaurants and cafes are located near the Peakhurst Inn Hotel on Forest Road.
