Pyrmont is an inner-city suburb of Sydney, 2 km south-west of the CBD and it is also part of the Darling Harbour region
Pyrmont offers a combination of apartments, terraces and commercial buildings. However, due to its prime location and proximity to the CBD a lot of the older commercial buildings are being demolished to make way for new high density developments.
There are numerous cafes and restaurants to be found around Harris Street ranging from pub food to Thai and Japanese. When it comes to shopping there are many convenience stores to be found in Pyrmont and for more than basics the CBD is close by and then there is Broadway for supermarkets and specialty stores. Pyrmont Growers Market is also held once a month. Also worth a mention are The Star Casino and Sydney Fish Markets which are close by.
Within a short walk or drive are also fine private schools such as Sydney Grammar and St Andrews, and State schools like Fort Street and Ultimo Public School. The University of Technology and Sydney University are nearby.
Due to its geographical position Pyrmont offers limited space for recreational activity. There is a handful of small water front parks. For those who like the indoors, there are three gyms on offer located near James Watkinson Reserve.
For people where close proximity to the CBD is paramount, Pyrmont is an ideal location. Also on offer are picturesque water front walks and parks which provide residents with a desirable life style.
