To find a family home on the Lower North Shore that suited our needs and lifestyle. We felt very overwhelmed at doing it ourselves! We are very time-poor and so the prospect of house hunting was an extremely daunting one.

Lauren and Brendan were a young couple looking for a family home to grow into. This home was to take them through to the next 15-20 years and needed to be in close proximity to their workplaces in the city.

They wanted the popular 4 bed, 2 bath, low maintenance home as they both work very hard and needed the home to also be within a half hour to commute to the CBD.

They were interested in anywhere from Mosman to Chatswood and I also showed them properties in other areas just to confirm their thoughts on where they wanted to be. They also had a strong network in friends in Willoughby area.

The whole search process took about a month; we found a place in Willoughby that Brendan and Lauren fell in love with – but thought they couldn’t afford. I felt the agent was overquoting on the property, so there was an opportunity to go to auction because I sensed that a lot of other buyers may have been put off by the overquoting.

The prop was passed in at auction and we negotiated a price $150K less than reserve. The house was beautiful character home just up the road from Harris Farm markets, parks and CBD transport.
